How could they have scrapped everything that made the original's gameplay the fun, quirky co-op experience it was in favour of a terrible cross between Call of Duty and Gears of War?

I legitimately could not tell the two cookie-cutter protagonists apart, the story was more clichéd than a 13-year-old's fanfic, and the fun gimmicks of partner control and co-op actions had been totally removed except for a few bland, contextual actions.
